Expert preview solution
Thomas Robert malthus was an English cleric, scholar and an influential economist in the field of political economics and demography. He was born on 13 February 1766 at UK and died on 23rd December 1834
He proposed that population growth will always tend to outrun the food supply and that betterment of humankind is impossible without strict limits on reproduction. He basically meant that human population increases geometrically while food production increases arithmetically,so eventually humans will be unable to produce enough food to sustain themselves.
As a solution malthus told that people must practice absistence before marriage, forced sterilization where necessary and institute criminal punishment for so called unprepared parents who had more children than they could support.
